Green roofs or eco roofs as they are sometimes referred to are created when a planting scheme of grasses and herbs are established on a suitable roof structure, usually on an urban development. The roof can be located anywhere from ground level, usually with an underground car park beneath, to a residential or commercial roof many storeys high. The technique is well established in continental Europe.
